Being married to the mob isn't most people's idea of fun, and for Marleen, a pianist who works the bars turns out to be a mafia heir who is made for much bigger things. Coyote is his lover, the sort of guy he should be unlikely to get with as he is a werewolf, the kind the mafia are hunting. the mafia regularly hunts werewolves and expect Marleen to carry on the family trend.

What struck me about this novel wasn't the story, it was the artwork at the start in bold colour, pinky hues of skin and graphic scenes of sex at the outset. Marleen is seen making-out (rather roughly) with his mate, Coyote who through the scenes bares his double fangs between thrusts. You can feel the passion in the scenes, even get close-ups of them, panting and thrusting between the panels, and it's really sexy in a down to earth way.

This is one of many from Sublime, a relatively new publisher of Yaoi fiction. I have been on the scene a while and I would advise other avid yaoi readers to watch out for more from them as I do believe they are growing in popularity. Although the story didn't initially attract me to this manga, I did enjoy the idea of Marleen having gone against his mafia kind by getting romantic with a werewolf, but as he knows what his own kind do to werewolves, he feels bad for Coyote.

He almost feels as though it is his own fault, and after such a hot series of panels, Marleen is so gentle and loving toward Coyote that it could almost melt the heart. As a seme, Marleen is somehow different as he doesn't act cool, bossy or arrogant as some do (or cruel), he is devoted to Coyote, shows he loves him, and now that they have gone against the mafia, he wants to move away so they can live in peace.

As this is only the second in the series, it is obvious to assume that they might not find that peace, even if they moved around all the time. The mob could easily find them and punish them for what they have done. Ranmaru has captured a new kind of yaoi where the characters are more like equals, even if Marleen does harbour jealousy that other men might have made love to Coyote while he has been away (this is typical of seme characters in Yaoi) but this is the only yaoi stereotype I got from this novel, and I am tempted to read the third one.
