Review: She loves him yet they have grown apart both in bed and out of it and it shows. Alex loves her, yet she never shows him any affection and their time together gives him hope that she will let him love her again. As she had kept quiet that she had been pierced by an arrow, he ponders how many other secrets she must have kept from him. He has to win her trust back, as well as her love, but doing so might hurt him along the way. Laren wishes that Alex had not been made chief as life back then was easier. She saw more of him, and after all his dealings with his clan, it left little time for her.
Alex is full of love with his wife and wants her to love him, desperately so - to the point of sacrificing all to do so. What makes this particular Mills & Boon novel different is that the two of them are already man and wife and have already got past the falling for each other and getting together stage, so we don't get to see the seduction part of this romance, instead their love has been a great one, and since Alex had become the clan leader, they have become strangers.

* Alex's overbearing manner when Laren gets hurt - poor thing only wants to help out!
* Alex's insistence to 'take care of Laren.' Maybe they will become closer?
After thoughts: Willingham's knowledge of stained glass and how to make it in 1305 is extensive and made me rather impressed. Laren is an ordinary woman and believed herself beneath him at first as he was the son of the then chief of the clan. Alex's love for her grows deeper than she realises and if she will let him in, flourish.
